Portobello (Central) beach is situated at the small town of Portobello, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The designated area is approximately 1.4 km long. The beach comprises a long stretch of sand and an associated promenade. The area is popular with dog walkers and families and there is an abundance of restaurants and cafés along the front. Portobello (West) beach is located just to the north west of this beach.
Water quality is classified as "Sufficient" based on samples taken from the previous 4 years, 2021 through to 2024.
