Excellent annual water quality rating

Ogmore-by-Sea beach at the mouth of the Ogmore estuary faces southwest towards the Bristol Channel, around a kilometre wide, with a rocky pebble bank at the high tide mark, graduating to shingle and sand at low tide, with Tusker Rock also visible offshore. The beach and surrounding area are within the Glamorgan Heritage Coast designation and the coastal belt is also within the Southerndown Coast Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) designated for both geological and ecological features, confirming the high conservation status of the area. Natural Resources Wales’s designated sample point is located at the slipway to the beach.

Water quality is classified as "Poor" based on samples taken from the previous 4 years, 2021 through to 2024. Swimming is not advised.
