Coolmaine Beach

Coolmaine Beach is a west-facing, gently sloping, sandy beach which is bounded to the south by a low rocky cliff, with rocky outcrops to the north. This beach is subject to occasional large accumulations of sea lettuce which grows in Argideen/Courtmacsherry Estuary, Garranefeen Strand and Coolmaine Bay. The beach is contained within Courtmacsherry Bay Special Protection Area (SPA 004219) and Courtmacsherry Estuary a Special Area of Conservation and a proposed Natural Heritage Area (SAC, pNHA 001230). The beach is used to some extent by anglers.

Water quality is classified as "Good" based on samples taken from the previous 4 years, 2021 through to 2024.
