Situated in a horseshoe-shaped bay, this beach is made up of pebbles, sand and rocky areas. It is backed by the historic town of Castletown and Castle Rushen, one of the world's best preserved medival castles.

Water quality is classified as "Sufficient" based on samples taken from the previous 4 years, 2021 through to 2024.
