An Trá Mór is a sandy beach located along the Connemara coastline. The strand itself is located between areas of rocky shore and is surrounded by farmland. The beach supports a variety of plants, birds and animals. Seals and otters can be spotted off the coastline. Activities include swimming, bathing and some water sports.
Water quality is classified as "Excellent" based on samples taken from the previous 4 years, 2021 through to 2024.
